Things are heating up in the Black Hamptons, an affluent community of African Americans nestled along the shore of Long Island, New York. The setting may be idyllic, but behind closed doors, the drama between family members and neighbors is intense.
Moses Britton, the patriarch of a wealthy banking family, has just returned home after an extended stay in Venezuela, where he was hiding to avoid federal charges. Now that the charges have been dropped, he’s eager to reunite with his wife, Carolyn, and his sons. His return is not welcomed the way he’d hoped, since Carolyn has stepped into his role at the head of the bank and lately, she’s been finding comfort in the arms of another man. His sons and daughter-in-law are also too distracted to give Moses much of a homecoming. They are keeping watch over Malcolm’s son, Jesse, who is unconscious in the hospital after he was attacked by the son of a local police sergeant.
Sgt. Lane’s world has been turned upside down since the attack, and now his only goal is to keep his son out of jail. He will have to make some difficult choices in order to afford legal representation. Middleweight boxing champion Bobby “The Beast” Boyd is more than willing to come to the rescue, but Sgt. Lane knows it will come with a price he’s not sure he’s willing to pay.
Their neighbor, Anthony Johnson, is trying his best to get back into his wife’s good graces now that they are no longer in danger of losing the tech company they worked hard to build. When Sydney discovers that he solved their financial problems with help from a family she hates with a passion, it just creates more tension in the marriage. Things could be headed for disaster when a secret from Sydney’s past shows up in their backyard.
While these families are dealing with their own drama, Leslie Bowen raises the alarm that their community is under threat from a wealthy developer. The neighbors must put aside their differences and come together to fight a common enemy that threatens to destroy the land and legacy of the Black Hamptons.
